TECHNOLOGY/TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
ATAG, in collaboration with other technology organizations addresses technology
related problems of the Ghanaian handicraft sector. Technology Development
and Technical Training is essential both in ensuring effective and cost
beneficial production and for the actual production processes. Some of
the Technology and Development and Technical Training issues which have
been undertaken by ATAG so far are technology related problems with clay,
brass variegation, kiln development, glass crusher development, dye consistency
and fastness. ATAG, through its Design Workshop, is experimenting with
many of the materials and processes being used by the artisans. For example,
recent experiments on the water tightness of clay and the reduction of
moisture in wood through solar drying have been successfully carried out.
